Over the weekend I managed to reach another arbitrary milestone [I've another two about to threshold real soon]. 700,000 views is still an amzing figure though and I feel really privileged because even though my stats have levelled off over the last few months and are lowere than they once were I'm still getting hits that many bloggers would love to have.
I can't thank you all enough for the continued support of the blog, particularly as there have been some lean times over the past few months - this may actually be my least published year. But it is your support and following that continues to drive me to post and hopefully I can continue with this momentum as there are a lot of things going on and it's ideal material for shorter, more regular blogposts in the immediate future.
Anyway, thanks once again for making this achievement, you're all awesome!
Congratulations! I'm sure that was an unimaginable number when you first started out (it certainly is for me!). Just goes to show the quality of the blog and its contents.
ReplyDeleteThanks, some of the upcoming milestones may not reach those numbers but certainly match it. Indeed I only ever set out to blog for a year, I certainly didn't expect to get so many hits, I'm still not sure how many real people are looking at it but they must be...
DeleteCongrats Dave! Your blog was one of the ones that really pushed me into trying out blogging. Awesome content and author. Hope to match up against you at Blog Wars (or at least buy you a pint).
ReplyDeleteWell that's gratifying to know I helped inspire you to give it a try. They can be extremely time consuming and take a lot of effort so I have great respect for anyone willing to give it a go.
DeleteYeah, it'd be cool to see you at Blog Wars, although if my first game last night with the Dark Angels is anything to go by it'll no doubt be less fun for me :(
Congratulations Dave! Funny you should mention hits trailing off. Mine have been too. This is partly because I haven't reviewed any codices recently but I'm below 1k per day for the first time in ages.
ReplyDeleteThink it reflects a general downturn in GW popularity or is it just Summer slump?
Thanks Alex, I'm averaging 500-600 but it can fluctuate from 300-900. Not so sure about summer slump, I always feel autumn winter is hardest. Summer is when you can get out and spray ;)
DeletePersonally I know I need to promote mine more to bring into the bigger numbers, but it's quite time consuming and I'd rather push on with the hobby and share that with the faithful than use that time touting for more. Pushing it on forums, Facebook and G+ groups helps bring in my bigger hits, but usually I need those big draw articles - free terrain templates or crazy scratchbuilds. Luckily I have some of those coming up so I may crack out the old forum user names and passwords to promote them.
Congrats dude. That is alot of page views. Always loved your blog :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats man!
