Epic Adeptus Titanicus part 8. - Knights

Here are my last remaining 40k Epic Knight, a Warden and some Eldar 'one'. I sold most of th eothers on ebay, I'll dig the photo of them out at some point. These two must have slipped the net though. I'm particularly fond of this 'green bee' though which might be why I kept it. The blending was really quite nice for me, back in the day, perhaps it should give me hope for the future and my Dark Angels...?

Lastly, an unpainted Eldar knight in high heels. No real desire to keep this, maybe I'll see what they're going for on ebay...

Epic Adeptus Titanicus part 7. - War Griffons Warhound

You may recall this little fella's brother and as you can see below this one follows the more traditional War Griffons colouring. I'd wanted to attempt some opposite colours, red and green, yellow and blue and somehow the more standard colours didn't get completed.

Although Looking at his twin and the original War Griffons spec sheet below maybe both of them bare little relation to what is 'Codex approved'.

Moving on here's the arm mounted Corvus assault pod. I wasn't stuck on the top mount and it never said this couldn't be mountd on a Warhound so I chopped down a Warlord power fist mount and attached it to the opposite side of the pod, as you can just make out in the last picture. Not sure what other weapon would have gone with this, either a demolition ball or a Vulcan mega bolter...

Epic Adeptus Titanicus part 6. - The G.O.D. Machines

I'm not totally trying to spin out all these Titans for as long as I can, honest. Here's a couple more War Griffons. This is just a random load out of the painted weapons that I found in my bits box, however I had chopped the bottom mounting pegs off a habit I did on a lot of these so I clearly knew what I was going to do with them. With hindsight that's a mistake, for the sake of coolness I was abandonning flexibility? Sure at the time I had enough titans to never need any kind of flexibility - I could set them up however I wanted and just run them like that for ever...

Anyway, of note is the 'chaos' head with added Imperial Guard Sentinel feet... it's a close-combat head! Isn't that obvious? Well I clearly had a couple of pairs of leg spare from the carapace laser conversion seen previously. This was a cheap way to convert this into something a little bit more naff interesting [nah I'm not wholly convinced either].

From my earliest Adeptus Titanicus days I think this was my favorite load. My memory may be cloudy but they were 'gattling blasters' on the arms and Defence Lasers on the carapace. This had a phenomenal rate of fire for taking down void shields at a decent distance and then the lasers punched through the exposed armour to cause maximum damage. Also there's the Command head. I loved this replacement head however in the left picture you can see there's a door for the crew to get out and walk round the jaw 'battlements'. I never liked that so I acutally filled in the gaps with Milliput, which is why they go all the way up to the head. It looks cooler, but again with hindsight I'm not so sure I've taken just a little bit of common sense from the design?

Epic Adeptus Titanicus part 5. - War Griffons Walk

Finally digging out the remainder of my unfinished War Griffons Titans. As you can see below there were plenty of bits they bought for Epic, there's even a few more that I haven't photographed. I've since put the Reaver in a nice bath of Dettol  and will strip it down to repaint because I think it's had three coats of paint in it's life and it could do with starting from scratch. It amazes me that this costs £20.50 brand new from GW today. Maybe I should just ebay it instead ;)

I'm going to split up some of the titans as the interesting extras should be suffiicent for a few posts at least. Sorry if you think it's spreading the content a bit thin but I'll only end up with a massive post otherwise and will be floundering for inspiration a month down the line.

This titan features the head mounted barrage cannon [the exact name escapes me]. It was also designed with the fire control tower on the left, which had some benefits [again I forget what] and the Landspeeder landing pad on the right. This allowed an attached Landspeeder to scout ahead and you could use it's line of sight for targetting. When you factor in their ability to 'pop-up' that's kind of a cool trick for a titan that's going to camp out backfield and barrage things from safety. As you can see I used a lead [pb] Epic marine jetbike for my attached Landspeeder, which I think is cool.

The multi-launcher and close combat chainsaw were probably not on my load out list. Maybe the multi-launcher, perhaps a second one would have been cool for total barrage devastation.

Here you can catch some more of my  lead [pb] Landspeeders, I think I've another knocking around to make a full squad, hence the common sense use of the jetbike for the spotter role. The middle shot also shows the other addition to the titan, 'carapace weapon mounts'. These are small guns mounted to the banner points on the back of the titan so any attacks from the rear are covered. Not sure my logic is sound on this as if the titan is backfield there may not be a whole lot of attacks from behind but cutting a couple of Imperial Guard Sentinel war walkers down looked a lot better than the actual tiny little multi-laser accessories they made. I think the last shot is the most imposing, though I'm still not convinced that fire control tower is going to offer any adavantage over visibility than a conventially mounted head...

'nids part 22. - Photo bomb!

OK here's a photo bomb of my Son's 'nids. I realised recently I've never really done a full exhibition of my efforts last year so I thought I'd remedy this. I decided to take all these pics the day I embarked on the Red Planet Basing for the entire force and before I tweaked all the highlights on the claws and talons. These pics have been knocking around for ages and I really should have shared them before but by getting them out in the open now I can do individual unit shots further down the line when they're varnished and complete.

Here's a couple of shots of the 'big guns' Hive Tyrant [before he had any Bonewhite highlights], Zoanthrope, Trygon and Tervigon and the second shot with the Tyranid Warriors and Tyranid Prime.

WFB - Alternative models

Recently I was talking about my WFB Ogres and mentioned at the time Shreddies were giving away some soft plastic toys. There were a few that looked like the Hunchback of Notre Dame which I was going to throw in as an Ogre, purely because my mate Liam, he of the scratch built Warhound and Warlord fame, had dug up one that looked like the 4th edition Cave Troll that came out and had painted them up!

Rooting around in my box of delights I stumbled across the actual toy he used as a Cave Troll [though his was painted, obviously] so thought I'd share it with you all.

Additionally here's the 'frost giant' that also came out, which was rubbish in comparison but I was going to use it anyway as an Ogre. No picture of the Hunchback though...

Last but not least here's a Griffon from the same set that I actually painted for my empire army. He's a bit little, only a pup but I had some fun painting it back in the day.
