Afternoon #warmongers and #warhammercommunity I've been building my Halfling #BloodBowl team. It was a treat to myself after witnessing PaintedByG's amazing Armies on Parade entry.
Interesting to note they come packaged in plastic inside the box, I don't think the Nurgle team did.
There's not much to say about them, the feet can be fiddly to add. It's perhaps always worth putting them on before you attempt gluing them to the base.
I also tended to leave them just glued to the base without arms and heads and going onto another one or two before coming back to the original, giving it time to bond to the base a bit more.
I also employed my strips of fun foam to fill the slotta gaps. It wasn't always completely effective but additional grass will hide most of the sand and gravel anyway. At some point I'll need the Kurnoth Hunters for my Treemen.
Not sure when I'll be undercoating them, what with the weather but I'll get them in my Porkbelly Stuffers colours - pink uniforms with crackling shoulder-pads.
For now I get a Great Big Granite Big Build Stamp of Approval.
Awesome work! That displayed by PaintedbyG was phenomenal. I used to go to the same club as him in Newcastle, his work was even better in person.
ReplyDeleteThe actual Parade Day was very inspirational, it was the one part I think they dropped the ball on. It was inevitable folk would share their entries on that day, they shouldn't have focussed on just the results day.
DeleteIf they had had someone monitoring social media that day, re-tweeting entries that caught their attention it would have felt like real engagement with the community. With only 20 'podium/winners' just an acknowledgment on social could have made someone's day, even if they didn't go on to win anything.
With a global entry and so few prizes it's the 99% that'll mostly go unrecognised. Just imagine what it would have been like if entrants hadn't bothered to share their efforts on the day? It'd have been a pretty poor show, but thankfully the community is bigger than that.
Awesome minis and a lot of fun look forward to seeing them painted.
ReplyDeleteCould be a while yet. Even priming them might be an issue, not just for the weather but because I'm wondering if investing in a couple of Contrast paints and Wraithbone might be the right approach. I got some Valejo flouro Magenta to do the pinks, but early tests did not work well. I could try my Tyranid pink recipe but I just think the contrast vibrancy might provide the best solution. Until I can reconcile that dilemma they may very well sit on the shelf. On the plus side that does give me time to get the Kurnoth Hunters too, and do them at the same time.
DeleteThat looks to be a very fun and characterful team to paint up. can't wait to see your results.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, the figures just have so much character. I've a 2nd edition metal team that I could have done, they're fun and cute but these are an altogether different league. I do worry I won't do them justice. There are a lot faces to do and they aren't my strong point. However, it will give me the opportunity to practice, I just hope I'm up to the task.
