Adeptus Titanicus - Titans in Manufactorum - TO DONE! 🔴

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my #AdeptusTitanicus or #LegionImperialis Titans and they're TO DONE! All the remaining weathering, battle damage, lenses and special FX.

I have to say I am happy with the results. I'm still not wholly convinced on some of my decisions but they're ones I can live with and ultimately a lot of the work inbetween the last update has gone some way to mitigate my concerns.

For instance, I had my reservations from the build, about using this head [because I wanted them all to be different]. And yet, I prefer it to the other one, which I previously preferred.

Once again reminding me not to judge a model until it's finished.

And I've gone back to that point that I was so proud of the colour scheme and somewhat fearful of the highlights and I needn't have worried. Everything else I've added since has created a story - whether it's the battle damage, or the heraldry, even the additional highlights create a depth of character that was not there before.

I need to be confident in my process. I may not be expanding my repertoire and discovering some colours still are a challenge but I should be confident in my ability to work it out.

Even when I have doubts the end result is never rubbish and always something to be proud of.

Yes, some decisions may not be the optimal choice but they are always liveable - because I never scrimp on the effort I put in.

That shows far more than 'I chose the wrong decal for the carapace'.

No one else is going to say that.

It's also great to see it alongside the first Reaver and although there is a difference in the yellow, it's so minor I'm not sure anyone else would notice. And the grey is very similar, which helps equalise everything.

And as a quartet they look awesome. I'm especially enjoying the lore of the Legio Gryphonicus which coincidentally does have a passion for Reavers.

It means I've got the right tools for the job.

The Warhounds are pretty epic too.

I'm not sure I have any reservations about them whatsoever.

I had some slight issue about going with the basic pose on the blue one but now it's done I don't know why.

The only remaining concern is not with these Warhounds...

it's with the first two I painted and that's only because I left their Griffons completely white.

I thought they would be too hard to paint blue, but now I've done these two new ones I may have to go back and fix them [when I can be bothered].

Such an amazing pack of Warhounds though.

And here we have the full maniple.

Although it might actually be two - an Axiom Maniple with a Warlord replaced by a Reaver,

and a Venator Light Maniple.

There's still a hope for a Warlord at some point though, and some Questoris Knights.

Which brings me back to the two Lancers who were sidelined - as batching these War Griffons became easier without them in the mix. The Lancers are still high on my list TO DO, but we'll see what takes my muse next...

Another set of Bloody Great Big Bloody Stamps of Bloody Approval!

Adeptus Titanicus - Titans in Manufactorum - Decals

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my #AdeptusTitanicus Titans. And it's time for decal - the thing I'd most been looking forward to... and yet the process is tedious and somewhat unpleasant. I'm also taking bigger risks - improvising by making ad-hoc decisions about using certain decals and then questioning those choices. But I think the Imperial Knight decal works well on the carapace here and I'm glad I suddenly decided replicate my Armiger gun shield heraldry on its knee

I also painted all the griffons with their blue bodies. This was something I only did on the Reaver first time around, leaving the Warhounds with white griffons, but this time I did all of them. Which now puts me in the position of wanting to go back to the originals and just bring them up to scratch...

I was slightly less convinced of my choices for the second Reaver. Again I dipped into the Imperial Knight decals for the massive wings on the side of the carapace, but the AdMech honour banner in the middle seems a fraction off-centre. too small, and a bit lost next to the wings. I love the knee heraldry though, the freehand checks just adding a bit of class.

Although, any bigger and I'd be covering up the yellow, which I think sits somewhat between the lemon of the original titans and the mustard colour I was so enamoured by earlier in the process. I'm hoping battle damage might help make all the decals blend in. There's no matting of their glossiness yet so they look a bit out of place.

The blue is still a little garish, but I at least managed to darken it in some places.

Once again the Legio Gryphonicus symbol starts with a Crimson Fist decal. I hole punch the centre, to remove the fist and that leaves a neat red circle. However, old decals and softener is not a great mix and often the decal would break.

But when it did work I could then fill the centre with yellow and apply the plain white griffons on top.

Then it was a bit of blue to pick out the body and a dot of orange for the beak. Lastly some Strong Tone wash to make it less garish and help blend it in with some sepia on the yellow for shading.

Great progress, even if I'm second-guessing some of my decisions now. Really, all that needs to be done is battle damage and weathering and then any special FX - lenses, glows etc. So, TO DONE! pics next!

Adeptus Titanicus - Titans in Manufactorum - Yellow highlights

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my #AdeptusTitanicus Titans. Just a quick one, because decals are next and I think I got in the zone. I stippled on VGC Stonewall Grey and Sun Yellow to get the dappled effect. Although not perfect I think I was inl ove at this stage.

I was almost reluctant to go any further as there was something about what I'd achieved so far that moved me in a way I can't explain. Even unfinished I was quite overwhelmed by this reaver and its pose.

I don't know why I felt this way but it was quite glorious and despite the reluctance to go further I was even more motivated to see the finished article.

And with decals next - so much more character was going to be added to these giant robots.

It was not without some concerns though. At this stage I was loving the darker yellow, but my previous Titans had a much lighter finish. Now I do like the older version but I was worried I would lose what I'd just grown to love making it match my earlier attempts.

Or, should I just accept that despite being one Titan Legion, that in times of war getting the right paint isn't always possible and there are subtle differences in the colours used. Or, if the Titans have come from different Forgeworlds they've perhaps had different paint supplies? Or, even just general weathering - some had faded more? Who knows? But in other words - suck it up and have subtly different colours! We'll see. There are still some highlights to add on top of these decals.

Adeptus Titanicus - Titans in Manufactorum - Moar yellow [and grey]

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my #AdeptusTitanicus Titans. At this stage I was adding a bit of shading on all the yellow at the edges, but also shading the metallic parts too, to help blend it together.

I'd also picked up Basilicanum Grey Contrast point and was using that to shade the grey areas - adding some stippling to help create the mottled effect.

That Bahama Blue was still throwing everything off not helping me connect with this one yet. But, at least I was getting on with the other parts.

It also wasn't helping that the bases hadn't had any further detail work, even just basecoats on the reinforcement of the mezzanine floor. But trying to fit that in with other tasks was awkward and easy to avoid.

I was starting to love the yellow though, even at this stage when it was rough.

The overall effect was great and as a group I was really enjoying what was coming off my paintbrush.

As an aside the Lancers had been sacrificed at this stage, there was almost zero progress on them.

But they were different colours so it was hard to include them in the batch process. However, the weapons were coming along and for the metallic areas I had done a few bits on the Lion at the same time.

I was also pottering around with various other things. I think I did a darker shade coat on my Leviathan Tyranid Prime, Barbgaunts, Von Ryan's Leapers and Neurogaunt. I'd also been looking at the magnet situation on my Norn Emissary - considering if it was worth making it be the Norn Assimilator too? I mean it's going to be part of my #DreadTober pledge but I want it ready to go as usual.
