Sector Mechanicus Galvanic Servohaulers - TO DONE! Red pics

Afternoon #warmongers and #warhammercommunity I've been #paintingwarhammer Galvanic Servohaulers for #ArmiesOnParade. That seems so long ago now, but these were finished in time if you saw the pictures.

Obviously it was the servocrane and the medium sized servocrawler that I was painting, the small one having been completed earlier in the year.

But they make a set and it's worth seeing them altogether so the consistency between the gap in painting is evident.

I'm really pleased in the end, some additional shading has given the impression there is a layer of oil in some places, as well as the layers of rust and weathering.

I'm also really pleased about the skull motif. It felt like such an afterthought to paint it white but with the weathering it still ties in but doesn't draw too much attention away from the rest of the model.

It's just a little unfortunate GW didn't think to have the cogs at different angles. It's a little annoying that they're both at 12 o'clock. Just one of them pointing in a slight direction elsewhere would have been more realistic. Although, I do imagine it in my head and can see how that might have seemed odd... catch 22

The cran was much more of a challenge, particularly trying to get all those internal struts painted.

With only the crane and the carriage as sub-assemblies it was quite fiddly to paint but I'm not sure how else you could have broken it down.

Luckily, I wanted it grimey so if there was ever any difficulties I could just throw in some more wash to hide anything not quite right.

And it was also rewarding not to get too hung up about rusty oranges and browns and just go black in places. It adds more contrast, of which you know I'm a big fan, and ties in some of the darker elements too.l

Now that they're done I need to apply the same process to my Galvanic Magnavent from my Imperial Knight Renegades box set. The plan, of course, was also yellow but I'm also contemplating light blue or even white/bone... Anyway, that's a long term goal, got to make them first!

And so I gets me my Great Big Granite Stamp of Approval - TO DONE!'

Sector Mechanicus Galvanic Servohaulers - final details

Afternoon #warmongers and #warhammercommunity I've been #paintingwarhammer on my Galvanic Servo-haulers.

I decided to pick out the Mechanicus skull on the wheels. There's a lot of rust and oranges on these, having the skull bone just helps break things up a little bit.

Lots of Ryza Rust on the crane too, but I also picked out some red details, for cables and cylinders [funny how those are semi-cylinders - they don't go through to the other side of the uprights].

Lots of extra shading in places to make even more contrast between the yellow and rust.

I'd ummed and ahhed over the colour of the energy coils. Instead of the blue glow I could have done I decided to make them insulating glass, similar to what I did with my Predator las-cannons.

I added some highlights and will gloss varnish/Tamiya Clear Red X-27 them

I also picked out the skull at the top. It's these little details that just add an extra dimension to the models.

They're terrain and don't need to stand out too much but having these extra little elements make it a slightly more considered piece. And it has been considered, so it needs to reflect that. It's hard though because considering NOT to put something on is a lot harder to justify than considering to add an element. You can always see what's been added, not what hasn't. I guess that's a good rule for making a decision whether to do something or not...

'nids part 297 - Genestealer cult - Acolyte Iconward - TO DONE!

Afternoon #warmongers and #warhammercommunity I've been #paintingwarhammer Genestealer Acolyte Iconward. Currently does this count as #NidVember #NomVember? I'm only now beginning to question whether my GSC stuff should be under my 'nids tally...? I've completed some more 'nids but obviously #ArmiesOnParade has somewhat overshadowed those efforts. I'll still be sharing them soon though.

Anyhoo, it's a welcome addition to my Genestealer Cult. He does add significant buffs to the army, or so I understand so may well be included in it, if I ever play with them. That said there are plenty of choices for HQ so who knows.

I was really chuffed how much it matches my similarly attired existing Acolytes. He makes a great addition to what I've done so far.

I didn't take too many 'red' pics so here's all my white pics too.

Once again I was struggling with white balance and decent lighting.

I added a little slime coming from the pipe on the base, it wasn't great, the UHU glue is a nightmare to use and the lime paint was a bit too opaque, but semi-transparent looked awful.

I did enjoy the freehand Free Radical Collective symbols, subtly different than I usually do them. The one on the back of the banner is a bit hidden though.

I tried some different settings on the camera below, not much more to say, just enjoy the pics.

#ArmiesOnParade2020

Afternoon #warmongers and #warhammercommunity I've been getting my #ArmiesOnParade board together. Once again I had an idea of which faction I was going to parade - my Imperial Knights and a concept for the board using my gaming terrain. I ended up taking 50+ pictures so I could whittle it down to the 6-8 needed to showcase.

I even got down with the kids and did a video on that there YouTube.

Anyway, here's a bucketload of pics. I tried two different layouts [Lancer in front and Gallant in front] and different camera settings. I ended up downsampling some of the images [I took some 48MP shots] so there's a mix and match of images here. They might be a little jumbled up but I'll do my best to put the together.

Sneaky assassin sneaking around in the ruins too 😉
