Imperial Knights - Cerastus Twins in manufactorum pt8. Heraldry blocking

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been #PaintingWarhammer on the Cerastus Knights. With the yellow basecoat in place it was time to block in the black and decide if the gamboge was 'goldilocks', or not enough/too much.

The question here was should the red right extra shoulder armour remain red or also be yellow.

I was relatively happy with the traditional markings on the shin plates.

But it felt like there was an excess of yellow [the chest plates were both going to be yellow too].

So I went with it staying red and decided the Ion Shield would be black.

That sword is going to be fun to paint at some point. I think it's going to me lava but will that even show up against the rest of the model?

Just getting the clean lines on the different fields is rewarding sometimes. Who needs masking tape?

Again, a lot of yellow, on the left-hand side of Acheron.

But I considered the chainfist matching the legs, with red on the outside and black on the inside of the blade.

But again, the excess yellow made me just leave it red.

But the Promethium tanks were always going to be yellow.

The gun-shield for the Flamestorm Cannon is the exception to the rule in also staying red.

I thought it'd be fun to have a yellow ion-shield too. The only issue being that adding in the black to the leg armour plates means there's a lot of black in this view, or specifically - much less red.

Hopefully the half red, half yellow/black chest plates will help rebalance the scheme.

As much as I love the chevrons, house Raven does need to represent the red and black. We'll have to see what the chevrons do to the scheme next.

Terrain is everything - Adeptus Titanicus Buildings and Ruins

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been working on these MDF buildings and ruins for Adeptus Titanicus for ages. I wanted to upgrade the simple design with the rooftops and edges but also use acetate in the windows with LED tea lights, which has made basing them somewhat challenging.

After adding the usual extra card details to hide the MDF construction I also fitted out the roofs with some cross-stitch fabric for texture, some reinforcements and a variety of toy bits to create AC vents, lookout bunkers or access hatches. Just some kind of greeblie to make them interesting. I wanted to prime these with a paint before I used any spray primer. MDF is notoriously thirsty for sprays. So I mixed up a black masonry paint, some PVA and a small amount of the finest sand for a bit of texture.

Now the sand was a mistake, as even though I tried to sieve it to get only the smallest grains it added far too much texture. And, even trying to scrape them off proved my paint/PVA combo was rock hard and the larger grains refused to budge.

Also, I had some spare bits which allowed me to create some additional ruined pieces but these were slow going in deciding how to do them, which further delayed the buildings themselves.

But it's more terrain and if can get the Cerastus Knights done I might be able to round out my hobby season with these.

More importantly I'd then be able to take them to Otty's shed, to go with the rest of the AT terrain.

They currently take up a lot of space in my shelves and it'd be nice to have that space back for my next set of projects.

Great Big Chrome 'BIG BUILD' Stamps of Approval.

Oh, and there's a piece of TT-Combat scatter terrain of a plasma generator that I think might work in AT as well. I added some additional banding on the outer arch with some gemstone 'rivets' and a gemstone light on the inside.

Battle Record - Middle Earth - Beyond The Deeping Wall #MESBG 06/08/26

Afternoon #Warhammer Community we've been playing MESBG again. We're playing the next mission Beyond the Deeping Wall where the 'Elves' try to hold back the orcs having broken through the breach. And I finally got to take Tyler to the Shed of the Year to take part. Hilariously his first dice roll was a 1!

I can't remember many details but I think we had to get out of the 'water' which meant our movement range was halved. And this was our initial wrong set up with all the Orcs through the wall.

I think there might have been a limit to how many could breach it per turn.

So it didn't take long before we were pinned in the breach.

Getting out was almost impossible and the water meant even if you won you couldn't get very far.

Meanwhile the Rohan army was desperately trying to get Legolas onto the wall so he could 'slide down the stairs'.

It was just a bun fight with very little progress beyond the wall.

I don't think we won this one either, but it was a lot of fun.

And great to finally introduce Tyler to MESBG

Battle Record - Middle Earth - The Deeping Wall #MESBG 04/08/26

Afternoon #Warhammer Community we've been playing MESBG again. We'd set up the board for the Shed of the Year pictures, so it would be rude not to have a game.

This was the battle of the Deeping Wall scenario. With Orcs coming on from each end and some engineers trying to get to the wall to blow it up.

I'm not sure if Otty had played this before but it soon became apparent there were some gameplay issues with the width of the battlements.

For the most part you could have two abreast, but some areas where staircases were it was an absolute bottle neck.

Which meant Pikes were literally doubly useful. But even so it led to a lot of congestion on the wall with very few Rohirrim holding off the press of orcs.

This allowed the archers to concentrate fire on the Engineers.

And eventually Legolas started to take toll for their attempts to blow up the wall.

As the Engineers got closer we started to lose the Berserkers holding the flaming brands.

You can see just how spread out the Rohan forces are on the wall, holding back the Orcs at each end,

More shots at the Engineers

Every model that died could come on from the ladders.

Although there were some breakthrough's onto the battlements, they were often beaten back.

As the Engineers reached the foot of the wall we realised the drainage gate was in the wrong place for the mission. And the Engineers realised they'd lost all the Berserkers to light the explosives.

The battle atop the wall continued.

But we still couldn't breach the line either end.

Archers continued to shoot at the Engineers, with only reinforcements on the ladders obscuring these vital targets. Each engineer needed to make a moral check and then it was something like a 5 or 6 to blow up the charge to win.

But I think Otty managed to achieve his objective and win the game.

We played on a bit after the game had finished and the Engineers finally found a spark to blow up the wall, but too little too late

Even box cars felt like a cruel jest that it had came after the game had been called.

Lessons learned, but it looks awesome.

I think some additional wooden walkways might be added eventually. I don't know if they'll be detachable though - so we don't end up tipping the advantage the other way round. But a full day of gaming with these guys - WOOT!
