#ArmiesOnParade2024 - Better late than never

Afternoon #Warhammer Community it appears I never shared my #ArmiesOnParade 2024 entry at my nearest Warhammer in Liverpool. What with all the DreadTober content I never did a post, then again I've not shared my trip to the Warhammer World exhibition from last July either - so much to do. so little time. Anyway, this is mostly a photo round up, maybe with some thoughts for this year. First up we have this awesome Necromunda board.

You have to acknowledge the genius of this - you can paint numerous small gangs that as soon as you put on the one board [or under - check out the lower level 🔍] you have an amazing diorama. I think this was the winner and justifiably so.

Plus you get a playable board too.

I don't know if every faction is represented but there is plenty of variety.

Including Inquisitors, Rogue Traders, genestealer cultists and Gellerpox infected!

The genestealer Malstrains are really cool.

A battle between Imperial and Chaos Knights. Display boards are no longer a necessary element, so I don't know if these card terrain mats were the owners or had been 'donated' by the store.

Part of me hopes it's the latter as I think it's a nice way to say we've got you covered.

It's not a necessity, but we know it makes your army look cooler so we'll ensure everyone can have one if they want.

And a Necron parade set up next to it.

I actually think it's two factions facing off. One dynasty in the silver and gold.

Up against this squad of distressed Deathmarks who have been buried in the desert for eons byt the look of it.

Here we've got 4 Kill Teams as a parade and I'm really kicking myself for not writing this blog post sooner as I talked to their owner at length.

This time I did but it's since slipped my mind. I'm so sorry.

An interesting mix of models and styles.

On the one hand it would be cool to see them somehow unified on a single board I actually applaud them being separate.

Because Parade day is your parade - do it how you want and if that's 4 small displays then parade away! Having an event that's so open with the rules is a real invitation to join in on your own terms.

Now, I may be wrong but this might have been a father and son duo.

Or it was just the father with 4 factions on one board. Tau and Space Wolves.

Alongside Tyranids.

And a different Tau army.

I think he'd originally wanted to do 4 completely different quarters but settled on halves instead.

A Tyranid hive fleet.

I really liked this - simple, clean and highly effective.

A Norn Emissary to add to the Leviathan brood.

I took a lot of pics just because it looked so effective, and yeah, bugs!

A nice Stormcast Eternals display.

My own Imperial Knights parade.

I did do a video, but haven't got round to editing it yet, maybe 2026!

I had an online Knights Parade in 2020 and this is an expansion of that.

More Knights and new terrain pieces added.

And I set up the display the night before to test what I was going to do and get everything ready. Hope you enjoy the pics.

'nids part 375 - Leviathan chitin highlights 2

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Leviathan Tyranids. This is the second set of chitin highlights on the Neuro Tyrant.

There's the money shot on the back but there are a few 3rd stage highlights on there too.

You can just make them out on the Neurolids too.

Just imagine these as Epic scale miniatures, they'd be awesome in Legion Imperialis/Adeptus Titanicus.

The Winged Prime is also up to scratch.

I think the tip of his tail is missing something. I might add a little red 'blush' down the line.

Oh lordy, these are hard work. Each one takes between 22 and 26 minutes to highlight.

Add in the 34 minutes for the first highlight.

And let's not forget I've another 5 that need to be built... 😫

They may look cool, but in my opinion there's just far too much detail packed into such a small model.

The Von Ryan's Leapers might just get away with that level of detail, particularly as they're broods of 3/6.

But again, for me 20 minutes of 2nd highlights, added to the 37 mins for 1st highlights.

The second trio are built, just need basing and priming.

I've a spreadsheet with this project and 73 out of 210 tasks are done [the second 'stretch' set of figures, Termagants and Neurogaunts making up most of those tasks].

The random Lictor as well.

I've still no idea what this is for, whether it will be just used as another Von Ryan's Leaper with my existing Lictor and Deathleaper - because base-sizes 😩

Anyway, red highlight next and then black talons and claws.
