Terrain is everything - Munitorum containers - TO DONE!

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Munitorum Containers and they are TO DONE! Not just the white and orange container, but the turquoise and red.

I added some propaganda poster too just for a little more detailing.

Some arbitrary numbers as well, they always add some level of authenticity.

All four of my containers together, when I'll ever use them in a game is debatable but they worked out for my #ArmiesOnParade and I'm sure they will be useful in the role in the future.

Sure, the weathering is a bit OTT but they're consistent in execution if completely different in colours. Arguably the level of weathering does not need to be consistent at all as the very nature of these container would be that there is no guarantee they have been subjected to the same conditions.

Should I ever do anymore, I will probably consider a different level of weathering and change the pattern. Perhaps a horizontal stripe or some chevrons? But plenty of other things to do before I get more of these, especially when I already have plenty of my own containers already.

And with that a GREAT Big RUSTY Stamp of Approval. Although it might deserve two, one for each 😉!

Dark Angels - Ravenwing Black Knights and bikes - White pics

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my remaining #Ravenwing Black Knights and bikes. Obligatory white backdrop pics.

Black Knights

I think if I was ever going to play my Dark Angels I probably would want to run a Ravenwing forces

I do like the bikes but even with all this effort I probably still don't have enough

Molten lava sword

I mean it's alright and it shares the colour of the Plasma Talons rather than adding fancy blue power weapon colours into the mix.

Moar close-ups of his blade.

2nd Black Knight

Radar screen.

3rd Black Knight

The shoulder pad was from the Dark Angel Veteran sprue, which certainly made it easier to add the company number underneath it.

I'm not sure if my highlights have improved. I just think I've become more tolerant of the brush strokes I make.

Happy just to put enough on there to define what I want and then move on.

And the last 2 bikers

Together with their other brother.

Sergeant

I wanted some Chainsword wielding bikers for this squad as I think they're a fair bit better than they used to be, but what do I know?

Dark Angels - Ravenwing Black Knights and bikes - TO DONE!

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my remaining #Ravenwing Black Knights and bikes. These took a really long time to get over the line and a bit longer still to get the pics taken so I may have finished them in January.

Despite convincing myself that black isn't that difficult to paint I can't getaway from the fact I just don't want to paint it. Difficult - no, boring/tedious - yes

And there were additional decisions, like the winged sword colours on the robed Black Knights. I went with red, as I;d done that on others and they'd match. But, I never liked it - so the best of a bad job.

The molten lava sword wasn't quite as good as the Talonmaster, but with time I've come to be satisfied with them rather than the slight disappointment I originally felt.

I've still got a few robed riders and bits from my Ravenwing Command sprue to make a few more Black Knights, just short on bikes. And here was me thinking my Ravenwing was done!

But with a load of upgrade bits, Corvus Hammers and Plasma Pistols for conversions some cheap bikes will get me another three Knights if I so choose.

The two bikers to join the odd one I did with my #DreadTober pledge.

Here are the 3 together.

And with my Primaris Chaplain on bike for a cool 'Kill Team' shot.

Some closer pics to get a better look at them.

At least I managed to get the re head lamp glow to be a little more to my liking.

And with that a GREAT Big RUSTY Stamp of Approval. White background pics to follow.

Old stuff day 2023

Morning #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity it's #OldStuffDay 2023. Quite a few years ago now warhammer39999 wanted to join a movement to rediscover lost gems from the world of hobby blogs. To choose one of your own blogposts that you're most proud of, or may not have got the attention it deserved or any thing that may warrant some necromantic blogpost bothering. On top of that you were to share blogposts from other bloggers which you thought deserved the same spotlight of attention before they were returned to their dark nightmare infested slumbers.

Here's some great posts from other bloggers [apologies to the many great bloggers out there I haven't included, you do sterling work too, these are just the ones I was reminded to remember over the last 12 months]:

Bobo's Blood Bowl 7s pitch
I've not play Blood Bowl 7's but I suspect I'd like it. I will be making a 7's pitch for #ArmiesOnParade2023 and although this won't be my step-by-step it's pretty cool and helpful if you fancy giving it a go.

Dreadtober 2017
#DreadTober is a great community event in October to paint 'dread' sized figures. 2017 was the first year I got my act together and organised my projects so I could join in. I've been at it since and will continue to support it.

Heresy & Heroes Hobby Desk Photo Essay
John is along time blogger and ex-Games Workshop staffer. He did a photo essay in 2017 asking for our hobby desks and info on how we work, I even contributed. Maybe it's due an update?

Old School Gaming
OK, I'm cheating here as Marc's first post is not old, it was posted on the 10th of Feb this year! But the content is really old - a beautiful 2nd edition Termagant brood. I would love this.
Additionally there's a post from December 2022, but it's the classic alien cactus terrain and lastly a genuine old post from 2014 in his awesome Iron Snakes. Marc is a banner bearer for Old School, hence the blog title, so go check them out.

Tale of Painters
Tale of Painters is a great collection of hobbyists so you never know what's going to pop up as this fantastic Death Guard by Shvagyer army illustrates

In another universe I did paint my Imperial Knights House Hawkshroud, but I may have had hot dogs for fingers and they came out rubbish. But when I see Aurélie's I hope they turned out awesome.

le Blog dé Kouzes!
le Blog dé Kouzes is always inspirational and Morback's plague/chaos armies are amazing, this knight in particular.
As well as the plague Centaurion.
Also check out this collection of posts by Larg which are really inspirational and covers a huge swathe of the history of their blog

Chucking Monkeys
Still one of the most impressive conversions by Monkey Chuka

Blue Warp Studios
Liam makes really cool things from scratch. He's entered the world of 3D printing now, so we may never see the likes of these scratchbuilds again. When you can design and print in resin who needs to cut and glue plasticard, then sculpt in greenstuff and Milliput?

Weemen
Siph gives great advice on unifying a theme. With so many armies and factions you may want to collect having a way to tie them is really helpful.

From The Warp
As always, Ron From the Warp remains the inspiration for the blog. it may be 11 year's since he stepped away from blogging and we only shared the blogosphere for 18 months or so but you acknowledge those that came before and he did it so well. It might be slightly challenging to navigate now but there is so much great content here for those willing to explore - fill your boots.

And to my own blogposts.
If I'm honest I don't know where to start, this will be my 1,997th post [now that's a milestone] how do you choose? I've probably done this before though and used my showcase. It represents almost everything I've completed since I started the blog. Finishing things was the motivation for the blog, it helped keep my hobby mojo flowing and it's helped me to record all my efforts and celebrate what I've achieved.

But also, it's been 7 year's since I hosted my terrain competition but it's still a huge sense of pride that the community came together and made things.
