Old Stuff Day 2026


Morning #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity it's #OldStuffDay 2026. Quite a few years ago now warhammer39999 wanted to join a movement to rediscover lost gems from the world of hobby blogs. To choose one of your own blogposts that you're most proud of, or may not have got the attention it deserved or any thing that may warrant some necromantic blogpost bothering. On top of that you were to share blogposts from other bloggers which you thought deserved the same spotlight of attention before they were returned to their dark nightmare infested slumbers.

Here's some great posts from other bloggers. Apologies to the many great bloggers out there I haven't included, you do sterling work too, these are just the ones I was reminded to remember over the last 12 months [or remembered from previous Old Stuff Days]:

From The Warp

For Old Stuff Day I usually I go back to the blog that inspired me most, Ron Saikowski's From the Warp. He hadn't posted for years but had left it online as a resource that was always worth checking. But it turns out even that has been removed now. Instead let's look at Eternal Hunt's review of From the Warp, that itself is 13 year's old

Hobby legend Dave Taylor also gave Ron a platform 15 year's ago to discuss charity work within the hobby:

So I don't know what Ron is up to now, but I hope that he's well and that his legacy lives on, even if his blog no longer does.

DED 'ARD

DED 'ARD covered Old Stuff Day back in 2011, it's nice to see the community joining in the event, even if it was 15 years back

I'm obviously a Goblin Town fan and sho3box's own foray into Goblin Town is a pretty cool overview of the faction and the style is pretty cool too

And while we're at it Lead Plague's guide to painting Blackstone Fortress Ur-Ghuls that inspired the Goblin Town figures:

Eye of Error

I recall Eye of Error's Arbiter Station House with fondness, but this guide to creating it is really useful if you're into terrain.

Dark Future Gaming

Nard's Tyranids were a 40k forum staple back in the day. Bright pink with creamy bony carapaces and fluorescent green spot colours. I don't know where they share their work now, but Dark Future Gaming did a spotlight on them back in 2012 [good times].

Incidentally, DFG did move to a new platform here: Dark Future Games but haven't posted for 2 years 😢

Monkey Chuka

Another blog long overdue. Monkey Chuka used to have some crazy ideas and great hobby. I particularly liked these converted drunken Stormcast for Warhammer Underworlds

A Butterfly's Hobby Tally

XarfaiEngel is always so supportive of my blog, it's worth check out theirs. Again, terrain is a passion of mine and this beautiful blacksmith's forge is well worth checking out for tips or just the joy of seeing great hobby.

Old School Gaming

Marc has a great post about Armies on Parade [and you know I'm all for AoP]. His friend Sergeant Waz went onto win with the amazing Tyranid infested crashed Thunderhawk board. But there are plenty of other inspirational parades to look at too.

Lastly, when we game at Otty's Hobby shed we often reflect and think about our friend Scott. Occasionally we light a candle or incense in memory, while I try my hardest not to roll the dice in the dice tray just like he did. 


It reminds me of these posts where I thought about my gaming crew and subsequently a year later reconnected with them and Scott.


Hopefully something to learn from these posts, but try thinking about your own hobby crew, the times you've shared and the fun you've had together - good [old] times.
