Terrain is everything - Crisis Protocol (and Star Wars Legion) Cosmic Terrain

Afternoon, you may recall I had been volunteered to paint the Crisis Protocol Cosmic terrain pack. But in the style of my Star Wars Legion Rebel Barricades.

Ordinarily I'd have had some earlier WiP pics, but I seemed to forget that was a thing. They were primed Red Oxide, then a slight zenithal with Army Painter Skeleton Bone. Orange and brown panels were picked out and then Burnt Umber art acrylics wet sponged, dabbed and daubed - to give that grimy effect.

I printed and sponged a stencil for the numbers. Used Aethermatic Blue in the 'power cell' windows. The panels lines had Strong Tone washes and some drybrush highlights for definition.

I used an Aurebesh font to say 'Otty' on the front and 'shed'. Then realised the door should be green, but I liked red more. The number on top is Naboo Aurebesh, just with some stencil tweaks. It's 1066 for the Battle of Hastings, obviously!

Power cells/converters. I had planned to do some stripes on these before I realised there were natural panel lines demarcated already. However, you can just about see some unfortunate pencil marks I couldn't rub out.

I'm not a huge fan of the contrast on the pipes. The intention was more highlights but it just felt like a greasy rubberised tube so thought I'd leave it as is.

Don't know if these are free-standing lamps.

Or force-field generators. But the Aethermatic Blue once again came into its own.

It was actually the inspiration to put it on the booth and power cells. It does so much compared to the Basilicanum Grey on the pipes above.

Some illuminated signs. I was debating whether these would be green, pink, red or orange. But lime green seemed the sensible choice as I can really make it glow. The edges will be full on, like light shining on refractive acrylic. It also needs some Aethermatic Blue in the circles on the frames. You can also see I started the weathering on these - sponging VGC Charred brown on the edges. It's also based on my Deathwing Land Raider Redeemer technique.

Some basic barricades too. They're more like cast concrete, or plastic filled with water , they'll still serve as standard barricades in Legion.

So, just the weathering, glow FX and some additional details and these are done. I still think these would work in Crisis Protocol. They're obviously very different to the box art examples but I don't see them being outside of the Marvel realm of possibilities.

Imperial Knights - Cerastus Twins in manufactorum pt3. - Base - TO DONE!

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Imperial Knight Cerastus Castigator and Acheron. Having done the Red Planet BASE! 🔴 on the Adeptus Titanicus models it made sense to do my Cerastus twins.

They're far from being high on my TO DO LIST. I expect to be working on them some time in November or December. But the bases and legs have been primed for a while now.

Seeing them unpainted was a constant annoyance. Not least because the last update on the Cerastus Knights was exactly a year ago! I considered getting extra hobby points for projects long on the hobby table finally getting finished. But I had no idea this had slipped so far down my list that it's over a year old. If it's that easy to be delayed then I shouldn't get extra credit for it.

Goodness help me when I finally get back to my Sammael conversion!

Obviously there are still some additional bits to pick out on both these bases - skulls, pipes, debris and other details but they're mostly TO DONE!

The Castigator also has had its torso 'lock and key' attachment done. It's snapped off already so I'm not sure about if I need to pin it for reinforcement. Certain other elements need doing too, not to mention priming both torsos, carapaces and armour panels.

Interesting height differences compared to my Lancer.

And two Great Big Chrome 'BASE' Stamps of Approval.

Adeptus Titanicus - Titans in Manufactorum - Base - TO DONE!

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been #PaintingWarhammer. First up is getting my Adeptus Titanicus Warlord Titan ready for #DreadTober so I decided to do some basing all in one go. Going to have to be brave as I will be doing its skeleton in silver.

But the Questoris are bronze, to match my 40k scale knights.

As well as the base I got some of the metallics done too.

The Atropos are silver, just to emphasise how different they are, and to get to grips with doing the silver.

I do like how grimy these are. It's going to be weird adding more detail and highlights to them when they feel almost finished.

The Machine Spirits (artificial intelligences) of the Knight-Atrapos are said to carry with them a cold and all-destroying hunger, and for the Scion who bonds with them, madness is a constant risk.

And I don't know why, but I do like my Great Big Chrome 'BASE' Stamps of Approval.

Adeptus Titanicus - Titans in Manufactorum - Big Build & Base - TO DONE!

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been #BuildingWarhammer. First up is getting my Adeptus Titanicus Warlord Titan ready for #DreadTober. This came second-hand built, but I've been deconstructing it to magnetise and fix some of the butchery that took place by whoever built it initially. Luckily a lot of superglue was used, so I can snap bits off. But that then makes it harder to put bits back in the right place unless I also use superglue.
Four Questoris Knights. Again, mostly built already, but I had to fix the weapons. I had wanted all Thermal Cannons or Battle Cannons, but had to use what came in the box. It doesn't really have to be WYSIWYG, I'm never going to a competition and even I did Questoris Knights would not be in the list. I was missing the carapace missiles, but proxied some Devastator missile pouches as launchers which I think look quite cool.
A couple of Cerastus Knight Atrapos. Had some fun trying to repose them, definitely would have worked better as Lancers but I think they're quite cool considering how they're not geared for kitbashing.
Remember when I was missing Goblin Town Goblin? Well I found him, and now I need to paint him up, which is slightly inconvenient now the rest are all done!
And the first of my Great Big Chrome 'BIG BUILD' Stamps of Approval.

Battle record - a lot of Orc hunters on Wargs Vs Hill tribes #MESBG - 11/09/25

I've been #PlayingWarhammer with another game of MESBG. Liam was working so it was Otty, Ben and myself in the Hobby/Otty shed. It's amazing how quickly I can forget what happened in a game, which is why I don't do reports anymore. All I can recall is that Otty's first two turns were pretty good, and Ben almost threw in the towel then and there. But somehow it all unravelled for Otty. Ben, despite his early losses, managed to have weight of numbers in scoring objectives. This meant Otty lost the main objective. Then, by the end of the game the dice rolling was so bad between the both of them, it was liking they were hitting each other with pool noodles! Ben would take the victory and I only remembered to take our selfie when we got into the car. Even so, a lot of fun and more experience for their trip to their next midweek MESBG tournament.
