It was hot glued onto a plastic sheet, which I peeled away after cooling. The flat surface of the glue was superglued to the base and then obscured with flock. I didn't use a dubious looking broom, though ;-) I used tall grass from Noch, though cheap paintbrush bristles work well for small scale stuff as well.
